Issue
Notes in Notability are not being Synced or Backed Up.
Environment
iOS - iPhones & iPads
Resolution
Open the Notability app and click the 3 horizontal lines on the top left of the screen to expand the side menu". If you are on an iPad, this may already be open.
Click on the gear cog to access the "Settings" page.
In "Settings" select the iCloud option. Ensure that the iCloud Syncing feature is enabled.
Click the "Back" arrow and go back to "Settings". Additionally, you can enable OneDrive sync as well to provide a redundant form of syncing to ensure your data and notes are extra safe. OneDrive Syncing is great because it provides an easily accessible file for every different note that you have created within Notability.
To enable OneDrive Syncing, go to the "Auto-Backup" page.
In the Auto-Backup page, click "OneDrive". You will be asked if you want to "Continue" the following prompts for Notability to connect to your OneDrive. You will want to click "Continue" on both. You may be asked to log in using your credentials if it does not automatically sign you in. Once done you should see the "Destination" field filled with the directory of your Notability within your OneDrive.
The next part of this guide will be to check your iOS device is actually syncing to iCloud. This should already be enabled, but it doesn't hurt to double check. Go to the Settings app and click on the first box that shows your Name and Apple ID.
Click on iCloud
Scroll to the bottom of the page and make sure iCloud Backup is showing "On". If it is already on, make sure all items on this page are toggled "On" that you would like to backup, such as Contacts and Pictures. If there is anything you don't need or want synced, it is a good idea to uncheck it to save space on your iCloud.
- If it is not "On", click "On" and then "Back Up Now".
- It also is a good idea to enable "Access iCloud Data on the Web" in case there is a device failure and data needs to be pulled down from a computer.
- If for some reason you cannot enable iCloud, reach out to the MIS Helpdesk for troubleshooting.
Great work, you are done. If you run into any issues during these steps, or if you have any questions, be sure to reach out to the MIS Helpdesk.
