Cellphone (iOS): iPhone - Sync Outlook to iOS Calendar, Contacts and Mail app's

Issue

Connect Outlook Calendar to iOS Calendar app to see Meetings, Appointments, reminders, etc. This will also work for the iOS Mail application, though we encourage using Outlook.

Also following this article, you can sync Outlook Contacts to your iOS device. ( Section 1: Steps 1-6)

Environment

iOS Devices (iPhones & iPads)

Resolution

Section 1: Calendar & General Setup

  1. Go to Settings and Search for the Calendar AppUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Click on "Accounts"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Click on "Add Account"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Click on "Microsoft Exchange"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. Type in your Email in the "Email" field. Once done, the "Description" field should auto populate with "Exchange". Do not change this. Then hit "Next" Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  6. Your phone may ask you for a password to sign in, though if you have any other Microsoft apps signed in, you may not be asked for a password.
  7. Next go to your calendar app. It may take up to 15 minutes, but you should begin to see notifications pop up and calendar meetings and appointments populate on the calendar.
  8. Done.

Section 2: Contacts

  1. Go to Settings and click on "Contacts"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Within Contacts, click on "Accounts"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Click on "Exchange"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Make sure the Contacts slider is enabled (to the right - as shown in picture)Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. Next, go to your Contacts and click on "Lists"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  6. Then click on "Exchange Global Address List"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. You will notice no contacts are shown. This is normal. If you search person's name that you are looking for, they should populate in the list and you should see their contact pop up after searching. Because the Global Address List is so big, it most likely won't download all the contacts and you will need to use the search function.
    • You can save these contacts to another contact list, but you will need to remember to switch your contact list back to the list you are saving the contacts to, like shown in Step 6 (If you create a new contact from a contact found in the Exchange Global Address List, you can save it to All Contacts or iCloud Contacts)

If this doesn't help or you run into something different while going through this setup, start over and try again. If there is still no luck, give the MIS Service Desk a call or email. If there are any inconsistencies while following this guide, please let us know so we can update our documentation
