Password: How to Change Your Password

Issue

  1. You have forgotten your password and you can't log into your account.
  2. You want to update your password.

Resolution

Scenario 1: You've forgotten your password and can't log into your computer, email or office software.

  1. Ensure you are at an EC Office or Jobsite location that has access to the EC Network. This consists of either an Ethernet Connection that shows you are connected to the e-c-co.com network, OR connected to the ECCompany_Private Wi-Fi Network. 
    - If you are not connected to either one of these networks, changing your password will only affect your computer and not your Microsoft account, email, or credentials to connect to the Wi-Fi and may cause other access problems. It is HIGHLY recommended to be connected to either of the two networks provided before doing this.

  2. Once connected, you will need to call or email MIS to verify your identity and ask to reset your password. You can reach MIS at (503) 552-5500. The sticker on the lower right of your computer will show the MIS phone number as well.

Once MIS has given you your temporary password, you should be able to log in and update your password. MIS should give you the password requirements. 

Scenario 2: Update / Change your password - If you know your current password 

  1. Ensure you are at an EC Office or Jobsite location that has access to the EC Network. This consists of either an Ethernet Connection that shows you are connected to the e-c-co.com network, OR connected to the ECCompany_Private Wi-Fi Network. 
    - If you are not connected to either one of these networks, changing your password will only affect your computer and not your Microsoft account, email, or credentials to connect to the Wi-Fi and may cause other access problems.   2. Simultaneously press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard at the same time and select "Change a password" Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. You will now be presented a screen where you will be asked for your current password, and two boxes to enter in a new password. Type in your current password and create a new password which you will enter in the "New password" and "Confirm password' fields. If you run into a problem where your new password doesn't meet the requirements for the organization and you do not remember the password requirements, you will need to contact MIS and ask for the requirements. Generally, if you are trying to use a password similar to one you have already used, you may need to change it so something different.

  4. You a done, your password will update for your computer, email, and other Microsoft applications. 
  5. After clicking on the arrow to the right of "Confirm password" you should receive a prompt saying your password was successfully change. You are now done!
